For the past few years I’ve been concentrating a lot of my efforts on my solo recitals. These involve an eclectic mix of violin, electric violin and live looping (if that makes you say “What?” then have a look at some of the videos on my YouTube channel), playing a wide variety of music from Pachelbel to The Beatles!
My one-man show “Lines and Loops” has toured extensively both in the UK and abroad, and I also give workshops and demonstrations to groups of all sizes and ages. Have a look at my bookings page which gives more information about programmes and fees. I can also give you a recital in your own home: The idea of “house gigs” is becoming very popular and is a lovely intimate way to enjoy a recital.
In October 2005 I recorded my first solo CD “Duplicity”. It includes a wide range of pieces from Bach and Piazzolla on acoustic violin, through Hungarian and Norwegian folk tunes, to a superb choral piece by Knut Nystedt, multi-tracked on electric violins. The most ambitious piece is the famous 40-part motet “Spem In Alium” by Thomas Tallis, multi-tracked!
At the end of 2008 I released “Ascension”, my second solo CD. This again features a rich cross-section of music from Led Zeppelin and Jeff Beck to fully improvised tracks. Both the CDs are available from many major internet sites, or you can get them from my online shop.
In “Lines and Loops” I usually play a variety of music from classical unaccompanied works by Bach and Piazzolla, through duets from Telemann to Bartok, alongside multi-tracked improvisations and arrangements using live-looping. If you’d like more information on solo gigs, or are interested in arranging a concert, please email me. If you’d like to know more about the instruments and equipment I use please have a look at my gear page.
